Can my guinea pig drink out of a bowl instead of a water bottle?

I am considering getting my little piggy a bowl to put out in her run for her to drink out of as well as having a water bottle in her hutch but can she drink out of a bowl? I read somewhere that she shouldn't have shavings because as she forages her nose is so close to her mouth it could affect her breathing, so is this the same for a water bowl? I want her to be safe!
